Second Mural

There is a new piece of artwork in the Jeff and Deb Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center.  The art piece is the second of two murals installed in the main entrance atrium at 2516 Mortenson Road in Ames.  Hansen Center Manager, Marshall Ruble says “The artwork brings a lot of character to the Hansen Center and both pieces capture the essence of animal science.  I am proud to showcase these fine pieces of art in our center.”  Former Iowa Pork Producer’s CEO, Rich Degner, is featured in the piece as well as swine and the ties of Animal Science to 4-H and technology.  Animal Science Professor and Chair, Dr. Don Beermann says  “ It is immensely appropriate that Rich Degner’s image is a part of this second beautiful Clinton Hansen mural in the Jeff and Deb Hansen Education Center.  This mural depicts educational focus on Iowa’s swine industry. The pork industry, the outstanding leadership Rich provided as CEO of the IPPA, and the ongoing IPPA support of Iowa State educational programs warrant recognition of all three entities in the “front window” of the Hansen Center.  The mural further enhances the dynamic impact achieved with events held in the HASLC.”  To schedule a tour at the Hansen Center to see the murals, please email haslc@iastate.edu or call 515.294.4950.
