The world’s largest annual poultry, meat and feed industry event, the International  Production and Processing Expo,  took place the first week of February and over 7,000 visitors from over 141 different countries attended.  The Egg Industry Center,  Poultry Farm Manager and 7 students represented the ISU Department of Animal Science at the event held in Atlanta, Georgia.     “The event offers the opportunity to network with industry leaders, view cutting edge technology and be educated on various hot topics in poultry, feed or meat.  It’s a great event to gather all the different experts together under one roof”  says Poultry Teaching Farm Manager and Block and Bridle Poultry Interest Group Adviser, Cameron Hall.  He goes on to say “The students attended so they could interview  for internships and full time employment at the College Student Career Program.   Of the 7 students that attended,  a total of 23 interviews took place in two days.  Students are getting the opportunity to interact with the nation’s leaders in Poultry as this is the premiere Poultry show of the year.“

Hotel lodging and conference registration was sponsored by US Poultry and Egg for all students in the program.  No donations were made directly to Iowa state by US Poultry and Egg. A student recruitment grant from US Poultry and Egg Foundation “made possible by West Liberty Foods” helped secure transportation to the event.
